In Chess Set in Bronze, Damian Wojcik transforms a centuries old game into a sculptural meditation on form, permanence, and quiet power. 
Cast in bronze by hand in London studio, this limited edition set blurs the line between object and artwork.
 
Damian Wojcik has stripped away unnecessary detail to leave behind only the essence of each role on the board. 
The result is a chess set that speaks the visual language of contemporary sculpture 
while preserving the symbolic weight of the game itself.
 
The bronze figures rest on a custom designed engraved solid wooden board, offering a tactile contrast in material. 
Metal and wood - cool and warm, weight and grain interact subtly, reinforcing the visual and conceptual tension between formality and play.
 
As with his photographic work, Damian Wojcik continues to explore minimalism, contrast, and spatial dynamics. 
His move from image making to object making feels both deliberate and smooth. 
The stillness of the chess pieces echoes the stillness of his photographic compositions: controlled, deliberate, timeless.
